Close to Puerto Penasco where we are staying is an amazing biosphere reserve called El Pinacate. It has the most extensive area of free shifting sand dunes in North America, and also contains a vast landscape of volcanic craters, cinder cones and other volcanic features. We visited twice: a day in the dunes; and a day in the volcanic area. El Pinacate is an otherworldly place, and we didn’t see a soul (or any footprints other than our own) when visiting the dunes. This provided an excellent photographic opportunity to explore and appreciate nature’s lines.
