Jennifer and I spent two nights in Delft on our way from Paris to Amsterdam. It’s a picture postcard of a 17th century trading city, famous for Delftware and the painter Johannes Vermeer. We stayed at a boutique hotel that was once the home of another great “Dutch Golden Age” painter, Jan Steen. The historic, and largely unchanged character of central Delft oozes charm, and we spent much of our time just wandering the canal-side streets and taking in the ambience (such as we could) of the Dutch Golden Age. I don’t usually post images of paintings, but I have included some here to better tell my story.
